“Being able to make music together, in person, is just magical!”
Over two weekends in late June, staff and teachers from Courtnay & Rowe Music Academy hosted sixteen free in-person recitals at the beautiful Cochise Riverview Club for their students – the first live performances in more than a year and a half.
Parents and families were thrilled to be together with their teachers and listen to pop, rock, and classical hits from the students who have been taking their lessons mostly online for the past year. The Music Studio Atlanta’s sister school, Courtnay and Rowe In-Home Music Academy, previously enjoyed seven free outdoor recitals under the Pavilion of the Cochise Riverview Club in May.
Cochise Riverview Board member John Davidson says about the event: “The Cochise Riverview Club is pleased to be able to provide the location to showcase local talent from Courtnay and Rowe Music Academy and also The Music Studio Atlanta. They are fine schools and my children have enjoyed their lessons with them as well.”
Getting out from under COVID
2020 was a hard year for all music schools, but now in mid-2021, things are getting back to normal for both Courtnay and Rowe Music Academy and The Music Studio Atlanta. The schools have seen a huge return to in person lessons and enrollment is at an all time high. This has allowed the schools to do charity work with donations to local school employees and fundraisers, as well as the Samuel Vargas Music Foundation which gives used musical instruments to those in need.
All children love performing!
Owner and Director Cecilia Rowe says, “The staff, teachers, and students are very excited for opportunities to perform before a live audience and resume life as normal. It’s been amazing to continue lessons online and multiple virtual performance opportunities over the past year, but being able to make music together, in person, is just magical!”
